The Mad River Valley

Literally bursting with natural beauty, history, and creativity, yet devoid of traffic lights and fast food eateries, The Mad River Valley is home to farms of all types, artists, authors and entrepreneurs.

“The Valley” as locals call it, is quintessential New England. The north & south-running, thus “mad” river that defines the area winds its way under the covered bridges of historic Warren & Waitsfield, past iconic church steeples, breathtaking mountain ridgelines and through the picturesque orchards, pastures & fields of Fayston & Moretown.

Following the river is scenic Route 100, voted one of the country’s most beautiful roads. It annually transports thousands of visitors eager to partake in the Valley’s rich history, abundant culture and the diverse recreational activities offered by the Long & Catamount Trails, the Mad River itself and those of legendary ski areas Sugarbush Resort & Mad River Glen.

The Mad River Valley is also host to The Vermont Festival of the Arts, The Green Mountain Stage Race, The Vermont Festival of the Great Outdoors and the Valley Craft Fair.

According to Yankee Magazine, the Mad River Valley is also one of the top places to view fall folliage.
